Our Beliefs

Middleburg Community Church is a Global Methodist Church congregation.

We are a rural congregation of about 100 people averaging approximately 60-85 in weekly worship including our online community.

We believe the Bible contains the Holy Scriptures inspired by God and without error as God’s instruction for our lives. We hold to traditional Christian values and the beliefs confirmed in the Apostles’ Creed.

We believe in God, the Father, Creator of heaven and earth, who is the one and only true God revealed in three distinct persons of the Holy Trinity. We affirm that God is everlasting (eternal) transcending the past, present, and future, and is sovereign and infinite in power, wisdom, justice, goodness, and love.

We believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, the only Son of God. Salvation comes only through him. He is God incarnate and his life, death, and resurrection points to God’s redeeming love for all of creation. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life and no one comes to the Father except through a relationship with him.

We believe in the Holy Spirit as God’s present and transforming work in our midst. The Holy Spirit is the Advocate, the Comforter, and Intercessor conferred upon the believer, sent to remind us of God’s principles and guide us toward God and away from evil. The designator of our gifts for service to others in the bearing of fruit, the Holy Spirit leads us by its transforming power toward holiness and righteousness so we may be deemed presentable before God.

We believe humankind to be made in the image of God. We believe one can choose to accept or reject a relationship with God. We believe that original sin separates humanity from God and that it is only through repentance and a relationship with Jesus Christ (Redeemer) that one can be born again to a new, everlasting life.

We believe that a community of believers, known as the church, has the power to carry out the Lord’s work as the Body of Christ, nurturing one another in the faith and giving witness to our Lord in the world as we share the truth of God’s Word, serving one another in acts of kindness and love.
